Dr. Rashed Mohamed Karkain serves as the Sustainability Expert at Aeon Consulting, bringing a wealth of expertise in environmental and sustainability management. He holds a Ph.D. in Environment & Health Management from Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), complemented by a Master of Science in Innovation and Change Management from the same institution. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Florida (USF), Tampa, FL, and further advanced with an Oil Industry Technical Diploma from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), CDC, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Additionally, he completed his sophomore year at Robert E. Lee High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA.
Dr. Karkain is also an accomplished author, having published the book “Sustainable Development Leaders – What It Takes To Be One”, available on various platforms including Amazon.ae, Amazon.com, Karkain.ae, Barnesandnoble.com, and Saxo.com.
His extensive fields of expertise encompass environmental and sustainability project management, project development, feasibility studies, environmental and public health protection, safety, water treatment, air quality, and waste management. He is a recognized leader in promoting the green economy and sustainable energy initiatives, as well as developing leadership programs focused on sustainable development and environmental stewardship. Dr. Karkain has spearheaded numerous projects of significance, including the establishment of medical waste treatment plants, formulation of sustainable waste management strategies, operation of integrated hazardous waste treatment facilities, and the development of technical guidelines for sustainable waste management.
Dr. Karkain’s contributions have been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the 2020 Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation – Challenge 50 award for his work on carbon dioxide and green economy solutions. He was honored with the Rashid Award for Scientific Outstanding in 2019 and achieved notable accolades at the DGEP – Dubai Government Excellence Program in 2016 and 2011, highlighting his leadership in technical projects such as medical waste incineration and environmental quality assessments.
